Plans, And Purpose
Question…What is your plan for today? Another Question…What is your purpose for today?
Your spouse will likely ask you what your plans are on the daily. Your friends or coworkers will often ask you about your plans for the weekend. Occasionally there is a holiday and maybe we are asked what our plans are there as well.
We plan and we plan and then we plan some more. Some of us are fantastic planners. Some of us are not. We can become so lost in our “plans” that we never really consider our “purpose”, which is a huge win for the enemy. (Read that twice)
The Lord’s purpose prevails over our plans.
In my devotional one morning the introductory verse was this: Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.1 The words plan and purpose jumped off the page at me, like words will do. Perhaps because…
Just moments before, I had sat bleary-eyed in my office, staring at a bulletin board filled with things to tend to and my desk covered with more things to tend to. And I asked God to please help me, because it all was just so overwhelming.
Then I walked to my table, sat down and was instantly reminded by that verse…it is the Lord’s purpose that will prevail…not my plans.
Lasting value is found in God’s purpose.
One of the greatest joys I have on this earth is to sit here in the predawn silence and tap out a story on my phone about what God has done and is doing in my life. It just makes me happy.
I love to write, but more importantly, I love to brag on God. It aligns me with His purpose, far more than any plans I could ever make.
You know, we can plan all we want in this temporary world. But if lasting value is the goal, not temporal accomplishment, then step into God’s purpose for you, and let Him do His thing in your life.
