A true “Native Atlantan”, a rarity these days, Dana was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in nearby Decatur. Having graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School in 1968, Dana attended the internationally renowned Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) where he majored in Business Management and Marketing.
Upon graduation in 1972, he entered the corporate world, focusing primarily on marketing and sales for large grocery chains. He quickly progressed through the ranks to Field Marketing Representative, Sales Trainer, and Sales Manager, winning along the way a national corporate award that sent him and his wife, Joyce, to the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York.
In 1983 Dana changed careers, first working as a Management Consultant and then later as a Financial Advisor, Licensed Broker and Registered Principal, guiding individuals and families in the development and growth of their financial, investment, and retirement portfolios. He has also been a successful entrepreneur, organizing, launching, and managing 3 separate enterprises.
Dana’s attempt to retire in 2010 was short-lived. Two years later he returned to the financial field as a Tax Consultant and Preparer to help a friend’s tax and bookkeeping business. Today he is a partner in the firm.
Dana was raised in the church and saved at the age of 12. Throughout the years, he has served in many capacities: deacon, Sunday School teacher, discipleship training leader, small group leader, and Finance Chairman. Dana joined Ciloa in 1997 as one of the founding members of Ciloa’s Board of Directors. He has since served on various committees, in Ciloa’s seminars, and as Chairman of the Board.
In 1978, Dana married Joyce Anderson…“one of God’s greatest blessings to me.” They had met in high school, dated after college, and drifted apart until God brought her back into his life 5 years later. Dana and Joyce live in Lilburn, Georgia, USA. They have 4 wonderful children, son-in-law, daughter-in-law and…as of right now…5 beautiful grandchildren.
